Think! – Never Too Good

It would surprise you how many people think about seeking advanced training but have been reluctant to take it any further thinking it is a dark art, shrouded in secrecy.  Nothing could be further from the truth though and whilst it is a serious business as a group we fully realise that motorcyclists, on the whole, ride for fun and we strive to make it an enjoyable experience, giving you additional skills and an added enjoyment of riding.  A few years ago,  the UK Government, through their Think! campaign produced a series  of short videos featuring actor and comedian Alan Davies and bike racer Chaz Davies, following them on their advanced riding journey.  You can find these videos in our video section HERE.   They give a great insight into the benefits of advanced training and show how practical and dare we say enjoyable the training is.   If you are thinking of what your next step should be to make you a safe and happier rider have a look at the films and  get in touch with us by clickingHERE and have a discussion about what your next move should be

It’s never too soon to start advanced training

As a group we are always pleased when a member is successful when sitting their test but we’re particular chuffed with the latest result. This week we saw Elizabeth Steen become the latest member of the group to pass her Advanced Motorcycle Test. What makes this more notable is Elizabeth is fairly new to riding a motorbike and came to the group shortly after passing her DSA test. In her time on a bike Elizabeth has probably only covered something like 4000 miles and whilst others might feel daunted and hesitant because of that lack of experience Elizabeth didn’t let that put her off. Her aim was to gain experience and skills that would make her safer on the road and that is exactly what she has achieved. Supported by her Tutor, Martin Kerr, Elizabeth committed to the training and her efforts have been justly rewarded.

Not content with what she has achieved so far she plans to maintain her group membership and continue to develop as a rider in time for her triennial test.

Have you renewed your Group membership ?

Another GOLD success

Congratulations to group motorcycle tutor Martin Kerr who completed his triennial motorcycle retest on Tuesday 21st May and retained his GOLD grading.

These good results ensure the East Kilbride group remains well placed to deliver training to the highest standards.

Group Meeting – 10th April

The meeting is in the Parks BMW Motorrad Club Room, 13 Braeview Place, East Kilbride starting at 7.30pm.

This month we are delighted to welcome Jim Yair, RoSPA car and motorcycle examiner.   Jim joined the RoSPA cohort of examiners in 2018 and is based in Ayrshire and covers both car and motorcycle tests in the Ayrshire, Lanarkshire and Dumfriesshire areas.   On this evening Jim will answer questions on the car and motorcycle systems and tests, it is also a great opportunity to get to know one of the local examiners and hear what they are looking for and what could make the difference in achieving the pass grade.

Guests and prospective members are welcome. Members of the committee will be on hand to answer any questions if you are thinking about advanced training.

The evening will round off as usual with tea, coffee and biscuits and a chance to catch up with colleagues.

Can we remind all attendees NOT to park inside the Motorrad showroom gates or any metal barrier as these get locked during the evening.
